My Minky Puff Quilt

It's been awhile since I have posted any of my crafts. But, rest assured, I'm still crafting, no not as much.  I'm just strapped for time, so it's nothing like it used to be.  I forgot how much you spend taking care of a baby with feedings, diaper changes, cuddle time, and I can't forget to mention the LAUNDRY!  I don't mean to sound negative in anyway, I wouldn't trade it for a thing!!!  I absolutely am in love with my Girls!  They are great!

Have you ever started a project and thought half way in, "What did I get myself into?!?"
This was one of those projects...

A while back I won a giveaway from Honeybear Lane for the Puff Quilt Pattern and it was great!  Easy to follow and tons of photos for each step.  So if you are interested in making your own, head on over to Honeybear Lane and purchase your own pattern.  You'll be so glad you did.

The instructions walk you through purchasing your fabric, cutting the fabric, sewing the quilt, and then even how to make your own binding.  If I do another quilt like this I will for sure invest in a Walking Foot, which Heidi suggested but I threw caution to the wind, Ha!  (I am a little bit of a rebel, ya know!?!)  I will follow the instructions!  My finished quilt is approx. 45"x45" and the pattern in for a 36"x36" finished size, and I will not use Minky fabric for the whole thing.  Some puffs fine, but not the whole darn thing!

Don't get me wrong, I love love love this quilt as do the little ones.  The problem with it was that I am a new sewer.  Self taught at that.  I choose to do the whole quilt out of Minky fabric, and it was a bugger to sew!!  Minky is super slick and hard to keep straight.  I'm not sure you can see but this quilt is extra thick so keeping it under the presser foot was a task and then convincing my sewing machine to feed it through was difficult also.

If you don't want to sew your own and you want to purchase one Heidi also has some finished quilts available for purchase.  Here is a link to her shop...
